Faith.

Faith..Belief in
Faith in God
Faith in a Person

Faith is this week BSB Contest's theme and my contribution is the this picture.

As the poojari gets the plate of the holy lit fire (Aarthy) ,people rush to touch it and get the blessings . A FAITH , a belief that by doing so everything will be allright . I am not a very religious person ,i believe in 'Do good ,Be good' .
Unless you don't do any harm to any other creature in this world its okay . I am not the kind of person who would go and do 'Archana' when we go to a temple ,not that i am an aethist neither am i against GOD !! I feel i am bribing god ,i feel that i am putting an application with my name ,my raashi ,my gothra and asking him to something for me. And i have seen people's FAITH shake when things they prayed for , don't happen ! Do they really pray to get the things done from GOD ? Why do we pray ? Does praying has some terms and conditions attached to it ?
Praying *
* Conditions Apply
In our Brahmin community women are not supposed to do the pooja part ( i mean cleaning the god and stuff !) . Certain days of the month we are not allowed to enter the temple also. reason :They are not clean . They are not clean bcos of the periodical cycles !! But i thought its GOD who made women like that ,so why this discrimination ?
They say things are already written in your destiny and no one can change it ,then what are we praying for ? To change things or to confirm that things are in place ?So is it that you don't have FAITH in god and thats why you are praying or is it that you don't have faith in yourself ?
This is what i believe ,if you have faith in yourself and you are not harming in anybody ,you don't have to be scared of anybody !!

That's a good post on God and faith. As you said, it's god who created woman so and why such a bias? You can read my take on God and Bias

Loved your snap. As usual you are outdoing yourselves with the next one.
Religion is after all man-made and i guess will have its obvious faults.
There might not be obvious benefits to faith - but by true definition faith is supposed to be unconditional.

Some other benefits that might interest a few - from wikipedia for ease.. (similar studies are done in a lab in my school.)
"Neurobiological research coupled with modern medical imaging, especially tomography, suggests that serotonin is generated in some areas of the brain of people having religious experiences, and may have specific effects. These include the ability of believers to better cope with stressful situations. Viewed from the perspective of evolutionary psychology, this would suggest that in an uncontrolled environment, religious faith would objectively increase fitness for individuals."

HI Sr!V!dya !

Nice thoughts....I too dont believe in Superstitious beliefs that happen in the form of rituals, but I will abide to something if it has got a scientific explanation to it !! This is my thought about the temples ...The temples in INDIA are constructed in a place such that all PLANETS & power are converged at a point and this point will be the PIN POINT structure in the top of the temple named KUMBHA(mostly GOLD IN COLOUR)directly below that GOD's statue will be placed. If u had noticed correctly this is the only place where ppl will be having SINGLE MINDEDNESS TOWARDS THEIR GOALS, when u r single mided abt ur goal u will automatically achieve the goals but the believers in GOD think that it was GOD who brought the WINNING moment. In the past in order to make ppl come and experience the power of convergence of most of the planets our ancestors created a GOD and gave them identities in the form of STATUES, but it was us who build SUPERSTITIONS around the GOD and started creating violence....If we take the scientific route of every thing we will understand what was the main purpose behind all these rituals and superstitions..for everything there is a scientific reason, but our ancestors failed to tell the real reasons but made it a point to follow it thru' ritualistic faith....

i did mail u some days back...waiting to hear from u
